This project consisted of the main viaduct and multiple on- and off-ramps with a total length of 2100 m and spans of up to 32 m with deck width of up to 20 m. Overhanging wing elements are supported by a cast-in-place spine beam. The cast-in-place concrete for the deck was placed on the wing elements without additional shoring to form a solid connection between the wing elements and the spine beam. These main components were post-tensioned together to provide high structural efficiency. This type of construction was originally developed in 1971 for the San Francisco International Airport Elevated Roadway. T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) was the engineer of record.
- Kwong Cheng, current OPAC Principal, served as Lead Engineer while at TYLI. He performed design and analysis for this project.
